Preschool Hunting at UCSI CDC Taman Tayton View Branch

It is time to hunt a suitable school for my son before he is going to a proper one as he is just attempting 2 years old next April. From what I have observed from my daughter who is 4 years old this December and was sent to a proper private school this mid year, she is kind of slow in catching the lesson as she never learn to write and read properly before that! So, I decided to send my son to a playschool or pre school to learn proper motor skill before joining his sister in that Private school. This is to ease his studies as well.

This round, we went to UCSI CDC in Taman Connaught, that attached with the UCSI University South Wings.

 

Here is the entrance, equipped with CCTV and magnetic lock. Here is considered a 3-tier security entrance by a main gate, this gate is always open, 2nd tier with a security guard sitting out at the lower fence area and the final tier will be the glass door that always locked with CCTV supervision.

Kids are only allow to go out from the main glass door when they are going to toilets on the left hand side of the door, in group and when their parent(s) or guardian are arriving at the security sear point. the teacher or receptionist will call their name loudly, so that they can hear it from the TV room or classroom area. Security-wise, very good effort to the management. There are still  space to achieve, always!

The school probably need some maintenance on their outdoor playground equipment. By the way, outdoor playground doesnt really make any good selling points as Kuala Lumpur is hot all years round, raining, otherwise!Anyway, they still should have them in good and proper condition for early day outdoor play!

This is the classroom for nursery student from Playschool (18months above) and Nursery (3yo). They are about 20-25 of them to fit in this classroom. That was what i questioned to the staff, namely Elaine, whether is it really fine and comfortable to squeeze so many of them in this small room? and there will be 4 teacher plus the assistants to guide 20+ of them. Frankly, the classroom is really small for what i can see! Will the airflow system well enough? although there is air purifier or air filter in each classroom. This is still a worry for me.

Their text books for 4yo children and books for playschool plus nursery on the right picture. They are more to pictures book that is more attractive and phonic type of books!

Those kids that joining the after-school day care services will stay in the school TV Room, to enjoy TV program before they are going for napping.

 

The computer room on the left picture, the napping room for kids, a care taker, Indian Lady, as I seen, is with all these sleeping children in the room.The last picture shown the place the kids are going to have their meal, prepared by the kitchen. Elaine told me that the management is in the midst of having final discussion with the contractors to enlarge the school area by demolishing the wall and link the room to the University classroom.

Im kinda concerned about what they will learn from the school, Bahasa, English and Math are the MUST for me as well as Mandarin, Science, Art & Music and PE. Wow, I just listed out everything! As Elaine has told me, the school will introduce Aquatic lesson for them next year in 2018. Hmmm, this is a good selling point actually! I would double confirm on this later!

One very good point of UCSI CDC is that apart from academically school time, they offers lot after school enrichment programs, including Art and Craft, Swimming, Creative Dance, Kinder Music Class, Mandarin for Primary School, English or BM Enrichment, and SAM Mental Arithmetic. Most of them started after 1pm, once to twice classes, during weekdays except the swim class. Normal schooling time is from 9am-12nn. However, there are extra charge on all these classes that is not more than RM150 per month.

My conclusion: If the management really doing their best and putting much effort in enlarging the school area and to refurbish the amenities and playground equipment, as hearsay along this December break, I will judge UCSI CDC is a very suitable and good choice for younger toddlers and infants!! Go go go UCSI CDC! Show us something this year end.
